Quizmaker forces user to select correct answer before continuing

Nov 02, 2012

Hi there,

I am a new Quizmaker user and have created about 25 quizzes for various projects.  For some reason, on one particular quiz, when the user does not select the correct answer, the feedback is presented and their only option is "Try Again," whereas on all other quizzes I have creted, they get the feedback then are prompted to move to the "Next Question."

I have looked and side-by-side compared my settings from this problem quiz with another that work as they should, and cannot locate the trgger causing the user to have to keep attempting the same question till they get it right. Can someone help me understand where the trigger is located so that I can fix this quiz?

Thanks so, so much!

Ann

Hi Ann! Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

I found some information that may help you with this problem. If you read the information below and compare it to your current settings, you may be able to adjust it so that users don't get stuck on the "Try again" option.

Have a look:

By following the steps below you can create a quiz that meets the following requirements:

   *  Allow the user to attempt the question more than once if they answer incorrectly
   *  Display custom feedback when the user answers a question correctly
   *  Prompt the user to "try again" if they answer incorrectly

Here's how:

1)  Create a graded quiz question (http://www.articulate.com/support/quizmaker09/?p=53).
2)  Set the number of attempts for the question to two or more.
3)  Save & Close the question.  (We will return to it later.)
4)  Use the Blank Slide feature to create custom feedback for the correct response (http://www.articulate.com/blog/create-custom-feedback-in-quizmaker-09/).
5)  Open the question created in step 1.
6)  Delete the Feedback text for the Correct response, and set the Correct response to branch to the Blank Slide created in step 4 (http://www.articulate.com/support/quizmaker09/?p=356).
7)  Modify the Feedback text for the Incorrect response to explain to the user how many attempts they will have to answer correctly, and set the Incorrect response to branch to another slide in the quiz or to the "Finish Quiz" option.
8)  Save & Close the question.
9)  Save and publish your quiz.

The first option I would check is the amount of attempts allowed for the question. If it's unlimited, that may be the cause for the loop.

Thanks!
