Quizmaker in Saba - communication

Jul 08, 2011

Hello gurus -

We've uploaded a Quizmaker quiz in Saba 5.4, which is *working just fine.

(*working : Quizmaker sends the resulting score to Saba and it is correctly logged, and therefore, users are appropriately tracked.)

The issue that is worrying assessment owners is that Quizmaker is also sending **other information to Saba which immediately becomes available to the users on their Saba page.

(**other information : besides the score, users can see question IDs, question text, user responses, result-correct/wrong, and time stamp.)

This other information is allowing users to get a better understanding of where they went wrong while they were attempting the quiz, and on their next attempt, are able to pass the assessment with flying colors.

We would like to publish the Quiz so that it only sends the resulting score and not any other information.

Would appreciate guidance on this. (I can send you a screenshot of the Saba page for reference. Let me know where, if needed.)

Best,

Sanjay

Not sure you can turn off this communication from being sent, but as a manger and developer, i would like to see this in a report if needed. The LMS should have the capability to assign which fields the learner sees in their transcript. So that's where I would look first. As I said, having that information can be valuable as an ID and let you know if a question is giving learners trouble. that could lead you to look at the question and determine if the content for the question is not covered correctly, or the question is being presented incorrectly.

I have used other course creation tools that allow the editing and timing of course data being sent to the LMS, but I won't cover those here :-}

Thanks Dwayne - I completely agree that the "other information" should also be sent to LMS so we can track the effectiveness of Quiz questions. In all other courses/assessments, we use this information to evaluate our design.

In this exceptional case, however, we wanted to know if we can customize the information included in the packet sent back to Saba to include just the final score. We are working with Saba to find out how to control the information a user sees on their Saba page, however, it's taking more time than expected. Was curious if we can control it via Articulate.

Good luck with SABA. We were in "implementation" mode with them for almost a year, trying to get scripts to correctly report items. Finally dropped them with a lawsuit for breach of contract and went with SumTotal. Which is still not a great model in my opinion. it shouldn't be that hard to create an LMS that is both user AND manager friendly.

Only one I have seen that does this with any type of consistency is one from Quizzicle (http://quizzicle.com/MainSite2010/solutions/LMS/). They also offer a product to track a large array of user data and interactivity for reporting.
