Quizmaker results page not printing

Aug 09, 2013

I am working with a small course in Articulate Presenter. I need to provide this course to the client to run offline in HTML and participants need to be able to print the Quizmaker results page at the end. Easy right? For some reason it is not. When I publish the course, the option to print seems to work with the HTML file opening up with the personalized results. When I zipped the published course and sent it out, the extracted version did not work. An erroneous flash error message about ”stealth.swf” comes up when the course first launches and then the print option does not work at all.  The populated HTML report page does not display after the student’s name is added. Suffering humiliation…. Don’t want to turn it over to the Lectora team. Do you know why this is happening?

Hi Alicia,  the print function has code in it that is not designed to be run locally via a web browser. The web browser security blocks the print function. That is why the page does not appear. If you want to run your course locally then, like Phil said, you should publish the course using the CD option. This puts a "wrapper" around the published output the enables the print function to work. If you plan on uploading your course to the LMS or a web site the print function will work fine.

Hi Keith,

This discussion is a bit older - so let's start from the beginning!

  • Are you using Quizmaker stand alone, or did you insert the quiz into a Presenter course?
  • Where did you publish and test the course: a  Learning Management System (LMS), web server, etc.?
  • What browser(s) were you testing in?
  • Are you on the latest update of Quizmaker '13? We're on Update 9.

Let me know if you can also share a copy of your project here!

Thanks for the quick response.

I am using quizmaker as part of a presenter course.

I am using Update 9: 1702.2417

I am publishing to a Web server.

Since my post yesterday I have the report partially working. First I
discovered if the "Include HTML 5 content" is checked even though you run
presentation.html it still is HTML 5.

Reran with that unchecked and I have been able to get the report to work on
Chrome and Firefox. In order to get to work on Firefox I had to reinstall
flash player.

I still cannot get the report to be created in Explorer. I just get a blank
page. I have pop-up blocker turned off. Explorer security setting are
controlled by our system administrator. Security is set for medium high and
protected mode is turned on and cannot be turned off. Could this be the
problem with Explorer. Any ideas?

Separate question: Would articulate 360 solve these problems. At issue is
as a fed it is difficult to procure and use subscription services in
general.

Hi Keith,

First, looks like your email signature came through when you replied via email! No worries on our end, but if you'd like to remove it from this public discussion this Peek video will show you how.

Some browsers such as Chrome and Firefox have started to block Flash content by default, and then Studio/Storyline will serve up HTML5 if you enabled it. It sounds like that is what you're seeing.

Within the HTML5 output, the print results is something not supported in these earlier versions. Take a look at the article here for reference.

So, you'd want to make sure you're viewing the Flash content in a supported browser to have that function.

For your separate question, Articulate 360 has increased the supported browsers for HTML5, and includes options to publish HTML5 only (removing any concerns about users having Flash in their browsers). Also, Studio 360 does not have this issue with printing the results (we're looking at an issue in Storyline 360, that only happens in IE/Edge).

So, long story short...if you can purchase Articulate 360 and you use Studio 360 to publish these files, printing will work. 😀

Thanks for this information. No problem that my signature block came
through on the blog.
