Quizmaker runs very slow and imported pictures are blurry

Aug 05, 2011

Hi there,

I'm currently putting together a quizmaker test, and am having quite a lot of trouble with the programme's performance.

1. When clicking, dragging and resizing objects and pictures, there is a considerable delay between each movement. This can be enormously frustrating when trying to work fast, as one has to click drag, then wait for the programme to catch up. I'm running a fairly powerful pc (windows 7 (64 bit), 3.3 GHz intel i5 processor, 4 GB RAM , 1TB HD) and do not have this problem in my other applications.

2. Any png or jpg image inserted into the test displays blurry. The only workaround that I've found is to insert images as .EMF files, which don't allow transparency.

Any advice?

Thank you!

Marko

Hi Marko,

Here's how you can increase the quality for zoomed images in Quizmaker '09:

This method is not officially supported by Articulate.

In regards to the slow performance, do you have a lot of other programs running on your machine?  Also, do you have an anti-virus program that "audits" every action on your machine?  You may want to look into white-listing the Articulate software if you're using an "all in one" security software.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for getting back to me!

This link gives me an error message, can you repost please?

Re slowness:

As mentioned, I inserted the EMF pics as they displayed correctly, initially. What I didn't realise is that these were considerably larger than normal image files. As soon as I replaced them with smaller JPGs, Quizmaker sped up, so, problem solved.

re blurriness:

using the jpeg images means working within Quizmaker I they are blurred. However, once I publish the quiz the images seem to revert back to their former high quality, so the problem is solved. It does means that one needs to do all one's image editing in an external prog like photoshop or Corel, but that's not a difficulty.

Thanks for your help!

Marko
