QuizMaker without Flash - ya think?

Jan 03, 2013

You think Articulate has on the drawing board or will even consider creating the Quizmaker product where Flash is not required?  I know one company that has already done it but it's not nearly the rich product Articulate makes, but it will open with all devices (Apple iPads, mobile devices, Android OSs, etc) and browsers, no flash player required. I really like the Articulate company, support and products, but I'm becoming more and more concerned about the lose of users who can't even open the quizzes I create because their devices don't support Flash - those students are frustrated about it also. I realize this is not the fault of Articulate that many of the newer devices don't support it but what's one to do? I hope Articulate is at least looking into the possiblity of writing the Quizmaker product that will run on the newer computer devices.

Hi Larry! Totally hear ya, and yes indeed, the next version of Quizmaker (as well as Presenter and Engage) will include the ability to publish for HTML5 and the Articulate Mobile Player (which is a free app that allows learners to play content on an iPad). You can find out more about the features coming in Articulate Studio '13 on this page. Also, our dev team will be beta testing the new Articulate Studio products before release, so if you'd like to apply to be part of the beta test group, feel free to drop us a note at beta@articulate.com.

WOW - You really made my day!!  I have been hoping that you guys/gals had been working on this. I almost purchased a product that publishes their quizzes to HTML 5 but it's not near a easy to use and professional as the Articulate products are known for.  BTW, I have been using QM for several years now and would be very interested in helping to Beta test QM 13.  Can you venture a guess when it will go into Beta testing? Let me know if I can help in any way. Does it look like QM 09 customers will be able to do an upgrade to QM 13 from QM09?

I can not wait!!!

Hi again Larry - we don't have a projected date for the beta, but I do know our dev team is working hard on it as we speak! Once they feel the product is solid and ready for testing, we'll begin inviting small groups of beta applicants to begin using it. Though we can't guarantee an invitation for every applicant, we do welcome the community's interest, so definitely be sure to throw your name in the ring.

And yes, if you already own a Quizmaker '09 license, I anticipate that you'll receive a special upgrade price (rather than having to pay the full price of a regular license). Also, if you've purchased the Platinum Membership Plan as part of your current Studio license, it entitles you to a free upgrade which you can use to move from '09 to '13.

I just have  the stand-alone QM09 product. Can I just do a 1 year Platinum Membership Plan for just the  QM 09 product and if so, wwuld the QM 13 then be a free upgrade?
