Retry and Review buttons lost!

Jan 03, 2017

Hi guys, I need some urgent advice......a user has complained that she cannot Retry a quiz after failing.  It is in Quizmaker 09, in a Studio 09 course.  As far as I know, the quiz, like all our quizzes, has the Retry enabled; it's been running for 2 years since the last update with no complaints.

I opened the quiz and went to Pass Result/Fail result, expecting to see a tickbox for "Allow user to Retry".  Nothing. See screenshot.  Please remind me how to select this?

Another problem is that I can open the Presenter course file in the course folder, but I cannot edit the quiz or its Properties from the Presenter quiz slide;  they simply will not open.  I can open the quiz direct from the same folder, though. Any clues about why this is happening will help.

(We're converting to Studio 13, but it's a laborious process!)

Hello Jon!

This tutorial explains how to add a Retry button to your Quizmaker '09 quiz.

Since you are unable to edit the quiz or its properties from the Presenter quiz slide, have you tried deleting it and re-importing it into Presenter file? Can you also confirm that both the Quizmaker file and the Presenter file are stored in the same location?

Hi,

Re your advice below, I have just deleted the quiz from the Presenter file, and tried to import it.

The process stopped after a few seconds with a "type mismatch" warning, see screenshot.

I can conform that the quiz and Prenter files are in the same folder, and that the quiz runs normally when opened on its own from the folder.

All advice welcome!

Hi Jon,

I'm sorry to hear that the re-import wasn't successful! I've not seen a type mismatch warning before, so I have contacted the Support Engineers to take a closer look at this. I opened a case on your behalf (case# 00985385 for my reference), and you should hear from one of the engineers shortly. I'll also follow along with your case and post updates here as they are available.

Hi,

Additional information to my last email is

1, the quiz I'm trying to import runs fine in Review, when launched from the Presenter file, and has all 3 buttons

2, if I click OK on the first error message (see last email), it is replaced by another one, which cannot be OK'd or exited from, see screenshot

Hi Jon,

I see that Abel emailed you with some additional questions and ideas yesterday afternoon. Can you check your junk/spam folder for any emails from Support@articulate.com? If you don't see it we can look at resending it, or if you've got another email we should be sending too, please let us know that! The case was opened under the info@cloudaero account.

Tony Mills

Hi, thanks for that; I've checked the junk folder and the inbox for jon.cousens@cloudaero.co.uk and found nothing, probably because it was sent to info@........ could you please resend to that address?

I'm not sure how the case was opened on the info@.... address; I was using my address before and jon.cousens@..... is the address i would always use for Articulate problem solving..
