Sending an e-mail at the end of a quiz.

Apr 12, 2013

Hello,

In the past I used the link below to create "jump to URL" triggers to send emails at the end of assessments:

 http://email.about.com/library/misc/blmailto_encoder.htm

It worked.

I tried using the same link and methodology at the end of a recent piece and it no longer does.  I went to my colleague who still has version V1.0.1205.123 and it still works for her.  I have version 2:1212.1412.

This means that it is nothing to do with IT security settings but a change to the product.

I am able to work round the issue by publishing on the older version.

Have other people ran in to the same problem and has anyone got a more eloquent solution?

Regards

Hi there Andrew,

First, I just want to confirm that you're using Storyline. It looks like that's the case, based on the version numbers you posted, but I just want to make sure.

How are you viewing the courses when the email links aren't working? Try to make sure you're viewing the course after it's been uploaded to the environment for which it's intended. If you view published Storyline content on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.

To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the following article for details:
If you're still unable to get this working, are you able to share the .STORY file here? I'd be happy to take a look.
Thanks!
Christine

Hello Christine,

Yes it is Storyline.

In both instances I was publishing exactly the same file to Web.  Both PCs have the same security settings but one works and one does not.  On the PC  where it does not work earlier modules with  e-mailing links do work.  It seems that the only difference is the version.

Can you please try the link and see if it works for you with the new settings?

Unfortunatly I can't upload as the content is confidential.

Good morning Andrew!

I can certainly try this out for you. It sounds like you're using the "Jump to URL" trigger for this form and not a web object, correct? Sounds like either sound work, with either version.

I am using the latest version and both methods seem to be working for me.

Please take a look at the test course I created:

Testing for Andrew

if you have the course uploaded to a web server or LMS and you want to keep the content private, you're welcome to share the link to the course with me in a private message. If you'd like us to test the course files, you're also welcome to submit the files to us privately in a support case. Any content shared with us will remain confidential.

Thanks Andrew!

Christine
