Survey Question Results

Sep 20, 2012

Is there a way to pull a report of the answers of the respondents from survey questions? For example, I want to see the results by question from a group of people. What did people answer for question 1 for example? I noticed that you can set it up that resondents print/email results but is there a way to get a comprehensive report of answers?

Thanks!

Hi Nuria

There sure is. Quizmaker is designed primarily as an elearning development tool to be used in conjunction with Articulate Online or your own Learning Management System (LMS). You can track and report quiz and survey results via stand-alone Quizmaker quizzes or those embedded in Articulate Presenter using a number of methods.

For the best results and most accurate reporting, we recommend Articulate Online:

You can sign up for a free 30-day trial of Articulate Online here:

Your own SCORM- or AICC-compliant Learning Management System (LMS) will also provide accurate tracking capabilities.  Here are some open-source options for tracking quiz results:

   *  Moodle:  http://www.mozealous.com/upload-and-track-a-quizmaker-09-quiz-in-moodle/

Although email is not intended as a robust tracking mechanism, Quizmaker does provide an option for emailing results.  Upon completion of a quiz, the user can choose to email the results to a designated email address.  The results are sent in raw text format in the body of an email (raw text is the most flexible and universal data format).  The recipient can then copy and paste the comma-separated output from the email into a text file and open it via Excel.  After importing into Excel, you can select a "Table" format to organize the data into columns for better analysis.

Due to web browser, Flash Player, and email security issues, this method may not always work as expected.  We suggest that you thoroughly test this method in your environment to see if it meets your needs.  For more information, please review the following article:

I'm not sure if my question is similar but here goes.  I have a course that has two sections in it.  There's a single quiz at the end.  I have a hidden slide that uses variables to send info to the results slide as to which section each user viewed.  They can view one or both sections. No points are associated with this question so correct/incorrect is really irrelevant.  When the user prints results, all of their answers to the graded questions show up in the printout.  The hidden slide is included on the results slide but the answer they select is not included in the Student Answer column.  So I tried adding a survey question instead asking them to indicate which section they took. Again, those results are not included.  What am I missing or is this not possible?

No because they have the opportunity to view both.  I've been working on this in the meantime and I think I finally got the survey results to show up. They can choose one or both of the sections and it stays "neutral" in the results.  I had accidently placed the slide outside of what users see so they stayed blank because they didn't actually answer the questions.  Kind of a "duh" moment. So I think that works okay now.

I do have the other option though that I'm working on and I'd like to see if I can get it to work as well or instead of the survey question since the survey question would actually offer the student the opportunity to "lie" and just mark both if they felt like it.  This variable slide I set up is designed to capture the data based on slide views. It's a slide that users don't see.  I have variables set up to capture if the user views a particular slide (the last slide of the section), then the state of section 1 is changed to "checked".  If they view the final slide of section 2, the state of section 2 is changed to "checked".  The user is allowed to view both sections.  This hidden slide is included in what the results slide captures.  You can see in my screenshot the very last item is this hidden slide.  It indicates incorrect (there are not points associated with this slide). In the second shot, you can see one of the variables on the trigger slide.  when the users see this slide, corn is set to "true".  Any of this make sense?  I'd like that results to show up either in reporting or on the print results screen.  This is what I'm working on.

I have been continuing to work with my files.  It comes down to this - if there is a survey question slide that is completed using variables (and the user technically never even sees the slide), why aren't the results captured in the "student answer" column?

Is it because the student must physically click something?  We wanted to do it with variables because then the user can't lie about which section they took.  I have been successful at having the student answer appear for the survey slide on the results printout but only if we allow the user to click on their response themselves.
