Test Answers do not record in Google Chrome

Mar 12, 2020

Hi,

We are using the latest version of Quizmaker 13 (11:1809.1417) to create tests and publish them in HTML5. We then upload them to our LMS (SumTotal). When learners log into the LMS through Google Chrome and complete a test, the test details are not being recorded. This is not an issue in Internet Explorer. We previously opened a case with our LMS vendor, although they feel it's an issue with Quizmaker or Chrome, since it is working in IE.

On some other discussion posts regarding other issues, there was mention of  Chrome blocking flash as a potential source of issues. Because we are checking the box "Include HTML5 output" I assumed that flash should be a non-issue, however when I look at our published quizmaker output files, I see a file titled, "quiz.swf" which is a Shockwave Flash Object (see attached document). This made me wonder if there is a flash component which is not playing well with Chrome. I know our version of Chrome is blocking flash by default. Has anybody experienced this issue or have any insight as to what could be the cause of test details not recording?  Thanks for your help.

Angie

Hi Angela,

Happy to help!

When viewing your course in Google Chrome, are you able to review the course? Also, have you had a chance to test your course in SCORM Cloud to see if the issue persists there? '

I do want to mention that even though Quizmaker 13 includes an HTML5 output, this version of Quizmaker will rely on Flash to operate

If you need our help to take a look at your file, we're always more than happy to help! You can share files in this thread or you’re always welcome to share them privately here. We'll let you know our findings and will delete it after having a closer look!

Hi Vincent,

Thank you for your answer. Sorry for the delay, as I was not aware that anyone responded. I have not tested in SCORM cloud (I did not have access to do so). I will share my files if you could please validate that flash is likely the issue in Google Chrome.

One more question: does your latest version of quiz software have the ability to upload our current .quiz file and then publish it in HTML5? I'm trying to determine if we will need to rebuild all of our quizes from scratch in the new version.

Thanks,

Angie

Hi Angie,

Great questions!

Are flash objects causing issues in Google Chrome?

Since Quizmaker 13 does rely on Flash to operate, this could be the reason why it is not playing well in Chrome. Depending on the version of Chrome you are using, versions 76 and later will have the Flash Player turned off by default. What might help is to have Chrome switch to ask first before running Flash.

Can Quizmaker 360 upgrade previous Quizmaker files?

Yes, it can! For example, projects created with Studio ‘13 are fully compatible with newer versions of Storyline and Studio. You can open those projects and publish them to HTML5, and Quizmaker 360 will take care of the rest.
