using mailto function locally

Apr 11, 2014

Hello,

Quick question regarding viewing a quizmaker quiz locally.

I have an admin that is reviewing a large number of quizzes and instead of uploading them to the LMS, she is viewing them locally.

By doing this, she is extracting the published zip file to her Desktop and then running the quiz.html file.

This works fine for me, but not for her, she gets the error:

The mail to feature on this slide has been disabled while viewing locally because your browser does not support it.

Anyone know how to remedy this?

I am currently using IE11 and she is back on IE8, so is it just functionality between the 2 versions or does something have to be checked off in the browser settings?

Thank you.

Hi Leslie and thank you for the reply.

I am publishing for LMS.

I am converting quizzes into SCORM for EU (around 400) and EU is providing the QA.

Rather than upload each one into the Training environment and testing, they are just launching the quiz.html file (after extracting the zip file to a folder).

It works for me fine (following that process), I click the feedback button I added and the mailto works fine, a new email opens with the appropriate information added, but they receive the error I noted above.

again, I am using IE11 and they are using IE8, which may be the difference.

I am guessing there is some kind of configuration difference between the 2 that allows me to do it but not them.

It is dependent upon your browser security settings and certain browsers will also not allow this type of activity at all.

It may be something that the user cannot change because their administrator has locked it down.

Publishing to CD and running the exe file will circumvent these security settings, without using the flash projector in the CD version these courses are not designed to be run locally.
