Using Quizmaker for Employee Performance Evaluations

Dec 02, 2013

I've been asked to transfer our written employee performance evaluation surveys into Articulate Quizmaker, but I'm not sure how well or if this is going to work.  Some of the evaluation questions have up to 30 possible answers, and it looks like Quizmaker only provides 10 answer options.  It seems like I would need to ask multiple questions and branch them to get the answers we need,  Some are Yes/No questions, so perhaps these would work okay in Quizmaker.

We had previously done these Evaluations on Survey Monkey, but now are not able to use Survey Monkey because it is a 3rd party service and our main client will not allow it on their PC's.  Some work has been done creating these evaluation/surveys as Excel online input forms.  That solution seems to be promising, but my organization has not wanted to spend the $600 to purchase Adobe Acrobat Professional.

I have both Studio '13 and Storyline, but I'm more familiar with Studio and its Quizmaker features, so I was trying to start there, but it seems like I'm trying to fit a "square peg" into a "round hole."  I've heard that Storyline offers some additional flexibility in Quiz/Survey design, so maybe this is the route I need to take.

I welcome any insights, suggestions, etc.  Thanks!

Also, I am new to the organization and we don't yet have an LMS.  If I could develop surveys with an Articulate product, how would I make them available to users to complete, and how would I collect, store and report the data?

Hi Lori,

Personally? I would say if you have access to both products, you should give Storyline a try. I say this simply because it would be a better option for building a customized evaluation. Though, at the same time, if you're not too familiar with Storyline, it could be a little overwhelming to start with a project like this.

If you haven't already, I recommend posting over in the Storyline section of the forums as well. I'm sure our community members would be happy to give you some advice and opinions - plus, this will help with exposure to your question :)

For either product, you'll need to use an LMS if you need the ability to track or report. There are quite a few options out there. You could try using Articulate Online - which is free for 30 days.

There's also a really helpful thread on the topic that may help out:

Which LMS do you use and why?

Good luck with the project, Lori!
