When is LMS completion data sent from a quiz?

Sep 09, 2011

Hi All,

When a user takes a quiz, and the SCORM completion setting is set to that quiz, will the student be marked as complete when they reach the pass screen or when the click the "finish" button on the pass screen? I have a few users on the LMS who have both a 100% score, but are conisdered incomplete in the LMS and I'm trying to explain this. If I'm assuming that behavior is correct, then those users I described are passing the quiz and closing the course without hitting finish and watching whatever comes next, but is that really how it works?

Hi A,

Although we constantly communicate with the LMS, the completion data is not committed to the LMS until the content has been completed exited.  So, if they exit by using the Finish button, then that's okay.  If they exit using the X button in the browser, that's okay, too.

To see exactly what data we sound & how we send it, you can enable the LMS debug log by using the method in the link below:

Hi A,

If you are experiencing issues with content in your LMS, please refer to the following Word of Mouth Blog article, which outlines common issues pertaining to viewing and tracking content in an LMS:

Be sure to package your Studio '09 files properly for your LMS using the method described in this article:

If the issue persists, be sure to open a support case with your LMS provider, since they are your primary source of support for LMS tracking and reporting issues.
