Articulate Replay: Imported mp4, video not displaying

Jan 28, 2016

Hi there!

I recently recorded a presentation and am trying to import it to Articulate Replay. The audio is working fine, but the video is showing as a black screen. When I play the original mp4 file, there is no issue. Can anyone tell me what I may be doing wrong or how I can fix this?

Thanks in advance!

Jenna

I've just encountered this problem too. Pulling in an MP4 file only brings in audio. What's odd is inserting the same video into Storyline 2 works fine. I've tried uninstalling Replay, turning off .NET, etc but no success.

Also I tried using WMV as the import file, this time the video got imported but the audio got messed up, so as a work around muted the audio on the WMV track (A) and imported the MP4 but as audio only as the audio track (B), which seems to have resolved the issue in the short term.

Hi Nigel,

I'm sorry you ran into a similar issue. I know that this discussion is a bit older, but it seems it's been tricky for our team to track down. I'd love if you could share a copy of this MP4 file with us so that we can g ive it a test.

If you'd be able to upload here as a part of a reply, or share with our Support team here, just let me know!

Hi Nigel,

Thanks for sharing this! I took a look and saw the same as you in Replay ver 1 where the audio came through but the slide was blank. Importing in a WMV file, (or an MP4 file that was converted from a WMV) and having it appear black is something we've seen occur in Replay ver. 1 and that we were able to fix in Replay 360 (as a part of Articulate 360 suite of tools). I also tested your MP4 out in that version, and it worked successfully there.

It sounds like you'll need to continue using the dual track method to insert these into Replay ver 1. If you do want to talk with our Sales team about the upgrade options available for Articulate 360 please feel free to reach out to them here.
