Controlling the freeze frame image that is displayed as the video preview

Sep 17, 2019

I've created a replay video and published it and inserted it into my rise course. The image that is displayed within the rise course as the video preview before it plays is not flattering and not what I would prefer. Is there a way to choose the still image instead of having 360 choose it?

Hi Guy,

All you need to do is to insert a still image (this could also include text if you wish, so that it looks like a title/intro page) into track B in Replay (assuming your video is track A) and then have this visible for the first second or two of your video. Because this will be the first frame, it will also be the image that is visible when your Rise course starts. Once you have published your amended video to a video file, you should be good to go.

The two images below show the same video in Rise. The second one also includes a still image at the start that lasts only a couple of seconds before the original video cuts in:

Hi Guy,

You can use any image you want at the start, but if you want to add a freeze frame from the video, you can capture this from within Replay.  All you need to do is to find the frame that you want, freeze the video at that point and then use a tool such as the Snipping Tool (found under Windows Accessories) to save the image to your hard drive. No need to publish the video to capture your freeze frame.
