Poor Resolution videos from Replay when used inside of Storyline.

May 07, 2014

I have created some courses recently for a sales group, and veer outside the realm of e-learning. They are more along the lines of software demonstration and presentation. Hence they contain a lot of screenshots and have several videos recorded from Articulate Replay.

I have noticed myself that when I use a large player, and even when using a player of the optimal size, the resolution on the videos is sub-par.

Is there any way to capture or import higher quality screen captures from Replay into storyline?

Hi Dan,

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

First, I recommend checking your video quality settings within Storyline.

To do so, click on Publish.

From any of the publishing options (Web, LMS, etc.) you'll see a link next to "Quality:".

Click the link to adjust your quality settings.

If that doesn't help, there's also a method that consists of replacing the MP4 video in the published output.

More details are available in the following video:

I hope this helps with the quality of the videos.

For the size, it's best to record at the same resolution as your Story Size. When you insert into a smaller slide size than your screen resolution used to record the video, your video will scale down to the size of the Story Size, or enough to fit into the slide.
