Hey, I'm running articulate replay in parallels windows on my mac. I've followed the Articulate website's instructions for setup. I selected 720 by 540 when recording the screen. However, regardless of what I try, the actual area of the screen that is recorded is not the area that I choose. It just records another area of the screen. I thought it might be a resolution think, so I tried changing resolutions, etc. but it didn't work. Any ideas?
You said it records another area of the screen, is that area not included in the dotted line box that indicates which section is being recorded? You can move that box around to a particular part of your screen, and that's what you'll be able to capture. Also, when recording you could move windows.
I am trying to use Replay with a Windows 8.1 Tablet and when doing a screen recording wether I use the full screen or preselected size recording window it only records a much smaller area (about half of the surface).
I haven't tried recording on a Windows tablet, but if it corresponds with the system requirements here I would expect it to work as expected. Have you tried playing around with the recording area, does it always record the same section of the screen or just a portion of the area you select?
I tried all the options as well as full screen and resizing and it only records the upper side of the area. I tried with various softwares such as Power Point, Artrage, Microsoft Word etc and the behavior is always the same. I tried Camstudio on my tablet and this problem does not arise.
The other question I have is that Replay only works on Desktop mode and not in the Start mode, is there any plan to make a version working in Start mode?
Thanks for sharing the additional information here - have you tried moving a window into that upper right hand corner to see if it will record that whole window or again will cut out a 4th of it?
It may also be worth conducting a repair of Replay to help us narrow down the issue.
I talked with a few of my other colleagues and they had a few other suggestions.
First, since it's "cutting off a portion" have you checked to see what your DPI setting is? You'll want to set it at 96 DPI.
Next, have you checked that the Direct3D Acceleration is enabled? You'll find information about that here. If it's not available, it either means your video driver is outdated, or your computer isn't using a DirectX 9.0c video card. Click Save All Information (at the bottom of the window). Save the file, and send it to us for review.
Thanks for the update Federico! Good to know that it worked, and if you'd like to see future support for different DPI settings, please feel free to share your thoughts with our development team here.
I've encountered the same problem when using Articulate Replay on MS Surface Pro 3 and this is the solution:
Step 1: Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, then click Search.) Step 2: In the search box, type the name of the app. Step 3: Select the app’s tile (swipe down on the tile or right-click on it), then tap or click Open file location to open File Explorer on the desktop. Step 4: In File Explorer, tap and hold or right-click the app’s executable (.exe) file and select Properties. Step 5: Select the Compatibility tab. Step 6: In the Settings section, check the box next to Disable display scaling on high DPI settings. Step 7: Tap or click OK. Step 8: Start the app.
I've been experiencing the same issue and can't figure it out based on the links included in the threads. It seems to record an extra 25% on the left side of my computer, past where my screen ends. This extra space is grey.
Hi John! Have you checked your DPI as well? Are you utilizing multiple screens? Do you have a specific setting for the window size that would cause the extra space?
I have a serious issue with my reacording field as well when I try to record my PowerPoint presentations (full screen). Please see the attachment: 1. the selected area is not fully recorded and 2. there is always a black part on the left side of my video. I am working with a very modern laptop (although still on Windows 8.1), single screen, and tried out various screen settings (standard resolution: 1920 x 1080) , but the problem remains. Please: I urgently need your support. Thanks and Kind regards.
As you can see here, we did not hear back from Urs. I do not know if the recommendation shared above worked for him. You are certainly welcome to reach out to the user directly via the 'Contact Me' option on the user profile if you do not hear back soon.
Sorry about that - the directions shared before were for Storyline 1 (which doesn't support Windows 10). In case anyone else needs it, here are the directions for Storyline 2 (which does include Windows 10).

Some other best practices for working with Replay are outlined here, and additional best practices for working in Parallels are here.

Anybody ran into the same problem?

Hello Ashley,
Thank you very much for your answer
These are the specifics of my tablet:
Vaio Tap 11
My screen resolution19207/ 1080
Intel HD Graphics
Windows 8.1 64 bit
so it matches with the requirements
I tried all the options as well as full screen and resizing and it only records the upper side of the area. I tried with various softwares such as Power Point, Artrage, Microsoft Word etc and the behavior is always the same.

Hello Ashley
thank you for the tips.
I repaired Replay, but again same kind of behavior.
That is recording full screen only shows the upper half area
recording a selected área ends up showing only the upper left part
I also tried to divide the recorded screen área in 4 identical 1/4 área and this is the result:
upper left recording área gives me only the upper left corner area
upper right recording área gives me only an upper central small area
Lower left recording área gives me only a small part of the upper left corner área
Lower right recording área gives me only an upper central small area
I made the same tests on my laptop and had no error

Hello Ashley
My DPI was set at120, so I changed it to 96 according to your advice and now everything is fine.
Thing is that usingthe desktop in a tablet with 96 DPI makes it impossible to use the fingersbecause everything turns so small.
But the solution isto turn it back to 120 when one has finished working with Replay.
Thank you very muchfor your precious help.

Hey Lesley and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)
As you can see here, we did not hear back from Urs. I do not know if the recommendation shared above worked for him. You are certainly welcome to reach out to the user directly via the 'Contact Me' option on the user profile if you do not hear back soon.
Did you check your DPI settings as shared above?
Thanks for the help Leslie (love you name).
The directions on how to change the DPI are different for Windows 10 than on the heroes site, but I worked it out.
Lesley
Hi Lesley,
Sorry about that - the directions shared before were for Storyline 1 (which doesn't support Windows 10). In case anyone else needs it, here are the directions for Storyline 2 (which does include Windows 10).
Glad you got it worked out!
