I am trying to compare the video recording software in artiulate 360 vs captivate. The options in replay are better than storyline but I am missing a nice feature that is in captivate where you can choose the type of transition and between slides. Is this option available in replay 360? Can you change the type of transition between slides?

Great question and glad to hear that you're liking Replay so far.
There is a standard fade out/fade in that happens when you place two items together. As far as other options, you are welcome to share your thoughts in a feature request of items you would like to see.

I did see a great workaround shared by a user in the forums utilizing a black image to create a fade in/out to black if needed.
I, too am seeing the lack of transitions as a problem. Has there been any progress on adding transitions to Replay?

You can still use the standard fade out/fade in transition, but we haven't added other options. Thanks for letting us know what you'd like to see!
