12 text entry field question
May 31, 2014
I am trying to create a question slide with 12 numerical (text entry) fields. It is a chart where the learner has to indicate how much each item costs. I originally tried to do this as a drag and drop, but as some items in the list have the same cost, the learner was marked incorrect if they didn't drop the correct one of the three different $2.00 items! So I thought I would make them type in each cost but if I am correct storyline only allows for a maximum of 10 entry boxes. Is that correct? Is there a way around this, either by allowing for additional text entry items, or by allowing for a target to be correct if the learner drops any one of several different items on it?

Actually, it seems that I misread the interaction - there are 10 possible entries allowed for a text box, but I cant seem to get it to evaluate multiple boxes? Maybe there is a way to use the drag and drop approach? How would I do that if the same amount is correct in multiple locations?
Hi Gordon,
The built in question types only allow for one question per slide - but there are some methods such as this one that would allow you to have multiple fill in the blanks on one slide (this example is text entry, but you could use the numeric data entry option as well).
Hope that helps get you started.
Hi Ashley,
Thanks for your reply. Is there a workaround for the DnD?
Hi Gordon,
Since the built in drag and drop can only have one correct drop target for each drag item. You'll need to use a variable to track these instead of the built in Drag and drop question type.
There is an example here, and another one here that sound similar to your set up and you may want to check those out. Hope that helps!
Hi Ashley,
That helps a lot. I hadn't thought about using the same approach of a pick one for a drag and drop as Jeanette had created the video for with multiple text entries. Of course that makes sense!
Happy to help Gordon.
