2 Try Again Layers

Jul 09, 2014

Hi All. I am wanting to give 3 tries for a quiz question. After try 1, I'd like the Try Again pop up layer to contain a tip. After the second incorrect try, I'd like the Try Again pop up to give a link to our help center. I need to figure out a way to show 2 different Try Again pop ups, each shown based on the number of tries. I have duplicated and modified my current Try Again, so I now have 2 Try Again layers, but I'm not sure how to create the condition to trigger the second one on the second incorrect try. Ideas? Thanks in advance!

Hi Jana,

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes!

You should be able to create a number variable with a base value of 0. Have the number adjust with each click of the "Submit" button. You should then be able to trigger a specific layer depending on the number of times the learner clicks submit.

If you have any trouble with this, or any questions, please let us know.

Thanks and best of luck on the project!

Hey Jana,

You can also use the attempt variable that Storyline automatically produces. When you create your question, set the number of attempts to 3. In the Incorrect and Try Again (1st attempt) layer insert a trigger that will show Try again (2nd attempt) with condition of: If attempt equals to 2. This will show that layer only on the 2nd attempt.
