Students need to view a 4 gig video file. I want them to view the entire video and be able to leave and return to where they left off.
Should I store the video file on a "Company Server" and use a link inside a screen? What is the best practice? Once they view the file, there will be a knowledge assessment.
If you break it into smaller chunks, and place one chunk on each slide, then no matter how you host the video, they should be able to return to where they left off. Or at least within the distance of the size of chunks you decide to use.

Are they viewing this on the company network? If they are on Mobile or their home network it maybe unfair to have to use 4gb of data.
I would run it on a streaming server to improve the performance, but would look at reducing the file size.
