508 compliant - what does full keyboard support really mean?

Jan 14, 2014

Hello - we are testing out our template with 508 complaint experts/accessibility and I see that story line output provides "full keyboard support".  What exactly does this mean?

Thanks, JHC

Hi Jennifer and welcome to Heroes!

You can read more about the 508 compliance here, where you'll see that our keyboard support allows for the user to execute most Storyline functions using a keyboard. Exceptions include drag-and-drop and hotspot interactions.  If you include drag-and-drop or hotspot interactions, you'll want to provide an alternate, keyboard-controlled interaction.

Hi Jennifer,

If you'd like to pause the player, you'd need to include the "Seekbar" option within the player set up.The seekbar will automatically include a play/pause button and a replay button. Then in terms of accessibility, the user would need to tab to that element of the player and then the "enter" key to select it.

You can also set up triggers on the slide it self to be controlled by pressing a particular key.
