5GB Storyline file - help!

Jan 05, 2015

Hello - I saved an existing storyline file with a new name to make some slight edits and create a "new storyline". The original storyline file is 89MB. The current one I am working on - which is 10 slides, a couple of slides with layers, and no videos - is 5GB!~!!!!!!!

It is basically identical to the first storyline (call it storyline A) and now this second copied one (call is storyline B) is EXCESSIVELY large. Why? How can I fix this without recreating it from scratch?  I tried saving Storyline B as a new file, but it too is still 5GB in size.

Any suggestions?

Hi Abigail,

That sounds like unusual behavior - can you confirm you're working on local project files as described here.  Instead of doing a "save as" have you also tried importing into a new project file to see if the same behavior persists?  In regards to sizing issues, you may also want to look at the slide masters, screen recordings, and similar that are included but not in use that you can delete.

If you're still having difficulty, could we take a look at the original file?

Hi Ashley -

Thank you for the tips. I imported the file to a New Project and saved it to my local drive. All of the above seemed to "fix" the issue as i can tell from the file size. I haven't check a published version to ensure everything is working, but as far as the file size, well it is now 25MB instead of 5GB.

Thanks for your help!
