A menu page based on quiz answers.....

Jul 11, 2012

Hi,

I wondered if any one could suggest any ideas for this scenario.

I am building a particular course which requires a pre course assessment of 5 multiple choice questions. there are no right or wrong answers and each answer in the question relates to a particular subject area.

I would to design a course where based on the answers they have chosen for each question, it then provides the user a menu page listing the relevant subjects. In short it automatically builds a menu based on the users answers.

I've been playing but can not find a logical way to do this in Storyline so any help would be great.

Ok hit another problem. I have set up a quiz question with 4 answers. I have set up a variable which changes to value 1, 4, 7 or 10 based on which answer they choose.

I have another slide which has 4 buttons on it (Button 1, Button 4, Button 7, Button 10) which are hidden. I have set triggers up to change Button 1 to Normal if the variable from the quiz = 1, Button 4 to normal if the variable = 4 and so on.............

However they do not work and remain hidden.

The quiz slide is set up as a multiple choice slide to record the scores as well which I am not sure if this is causing the problem?

Hi, Jimmy -

I have an example I built back in the beta that uses question banks and multiple results slides to do what you're talking about. The downside is that this doesn't mix the objective questions together. This one also shows employment of a trigger to set a result to the average of the other results. This variable type isn't writable anymore, been hoping they'll bring it back

See if this wont meet your needs:

Steve,

Thanks for that. Very useful.

Believe it or not I managed to resolve the issue by setting the buttons to change state when "timeline starts" and then when the variable = a particular value. Before I had it set to when "variable changes" and this didn't appear to work.

Either way your example will be useful and has given me a few ideas so thank you very much.
