A question about questions

Mar 22, 2013

I have created a learning module with 5 sections. Each section is accessible from a home base. When the learner reaches the end of a section and they click next they are returned to the home base to explore another section of their choosing. After I created this I realized that I would like to add a question or two at the end of each section. I like this option better than a separate quiz section that the learner would have to choose after viewing all 5 sections. I have easily inserted my questions at the end of each section, the problem is I don't know how to trigger the question to return to the home base when the learner 1. answers the question correctly, or 2. needs to review the material because they have failed the question.

Can you please tell me how to do this?

Thanks,

Nancy Gibson

Hi Nancy,

It really depends on how you have these questions set up. Are you showing Correct and Incorrect feedback? If so, you could place a trigger on those layers that would take the learner to either the "home base" or a section where they can review the information for that subject.

So, say your learner doesn't select the correct answer. When the incorrect feedback appears, there should be a button for "Continue" or something similar. That "Continue" button will have a trigger already to either take the learner to the next slide, or to a results slide. You can modify this trigger to jump to whatever slide or section you'd prefer. So, if they need to review the information, just change that trigger to jump to the section that covers that specific topic. If the learner selects the correct answer, you can do the same thing for the correct feedback prompt and button, just have it jump to the "home base".

Thanks, I am not sure exactly what the restrictions for confidentiality are at this time. I would love to show it to you and get your feedback. I have another question now too.

I am trying to reset the questions when the learner revisits after a "try again" or a return after review. I selected the layer and clicked on the settings icon. Then under the section labeled revisits I chose reset to initial state.

This is not working. Is there another method or a save I need to do somewhere to keep it that way?

I will find out about the confidentiality question. I could really use some hands on help here.

Hi Nancy,

Actually, if you'd like, you can go ahead and send the file over to us privately. Any content you send in a support form will remain confidential. This may be the best option for you, and the safest just in case your client or company needs to keep the content out of public view. This way, we can see the entire course and provide suggestions for each of your questions

Would that work for you? If so, you can attach the .STORY file on the second page of the following form:

Please be sure to include a description of your issue. Please also include the URL for this thread in the form. Also, please share the case number with me. You're welcome to do so here, or in a private message. This way I can follow the progress of the case and update this thread.

Thanks again Nancy!

Actually, I was just looking for that. I have been sidelined with a different project for the past few weeks but I am now back to this one, and I am still not sure how to accomplish my goal.

I received an email telling me that the Articulate team was looking into it but did not receive the answer. Case #00325152. Any assistance here would be great.

Thanks,

Nancy
