I've attached a blank story with my object in it. If you look at the states, I have the fill colour of a rectangle and triangle different per state. However, when you preview or publish, the triangle shows grey after you click the object.
It looks like the program changes the extra triangle to the Visited state when clicked, instead of the Selected state.
Delete the Visited state, and the triangle will be blue (like the main shape) when selected.
If you were using the Visited state to track clicks, you could use variables instead.
Another option that lets you keep a Visited state: Create the shape in PowerPoint. (You can edit the points of their caption shape to create the look you want. Or just create the rectangle and triangle shapes, and then merge them.) Duplicate it in the colors you want. Save all those shapes as images. Then, in Storyline, fill each state with the colored image of the caption shape.
