About Default instruction text

May 21, 2013

I read the following link

http://community.articulate.com/tutorials/products/adding-data-entry-fields.aspx

I would like to remove the Default instruction text  "Your text here."

It doesn't look good in the ipad browser html5 version.

There is no option to remove the default instruction text even if i remove it in the articulate storyline options mentioned in the link.

If any of you in this forum know about this option, it will be a great help.

Thanks,

Vijay

Hi there Vijay. Welcome to the community!

You're referring to the "type your text here" text that appears for a text entry, correct?

You should be able to select this text, in the text box of your slide, and either modify or delete the text. Sound like that may not be working for you, though.

Can you share a little more information about what type of entry field you're using?

Also, if the method above doesn't work, are you able to share your .STORY file here? I'd be happy to take a look and see what's happening.

Thanks and welcome again!

Hi Christine,

Yes, You are right. I am referring to the "type your tet here" text appears.

I tried to delete the text by clicking the X symbol in the right panel of story line, but when i publish the output for HTML 5 and i open that slide to view...the text entry has the default text.

One more thing the text "type your text here" goes out of the box when i view it in the browser as well as in the ipad safari browser.

I have attached the .story file as well as the output, please view the story_html5.html and you can see the error.

please reply me as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Vijay

Good morning Guys,

@Bruce & David,

Thanks very much for taking a look, guys! I appreciate it :)

@Vjay,

I was able to find some documentation on this that may better explain why this is happening only in HTML5.

Custom instruction text for text entry fields isn't supported in Articulate Storyline's HTML5 output. The default instructions (type your text here) will display in HTML5 output.

Please review the following article for more information:

Articulate Support - Default Instructions Display for Text Entry Fields in HTML5 Output

Looks like this one would need to be a feature request.

Thanks again everyone. I hope you all have a great day!

Hi Bruce, David and Christine,

Thank you very much for your participation in this discussion.

Sorry i was busy in exploring the update 3. The problem of default instruction text exists in the Update 3 as said by David.

I read the link which was provided by Christine.I will try to send a feature request for the articulate team, so that they can fix it in their next update release.

I will keep posted with more updates

Thank you very much.

Vijay
