We are having some issues with our courses not meeting our companies accessibility guidelines. Do you have any documents that show what setting to use for JAWS, Zoomtext and Dragon?
We don't have any documentation about the settings you'd need to use in Jaws or another screen reader - but you can find the information on Storyline's section 508 compliance here and you'll also want to check that for the elements within Storyline that you'd like to be accessible with screen readers you've enabled the "Alt text" within the "Size and position" window.
When we are testing our course using JAWS it is reading out the text twice, once followed by the word 'graphic' at either the first or second read through. There are no graphics behind the text box, its just pure text.
We cant work out why it would read it out as text graphic then just as text?
I haven't heard of any specific issues with JAWS13 and storyline, but I know that they're most recent update is JAWS 15. Are you able to update and see if the issue is resolved?
Thanks Rachel - I did a bit more digging on this one, and found an issue that has been reported to our QA team where the word "graphic" is added to the end of the text - I have added this thread to the QA report, although at this time I don't have any further information to share on a fix.
I don't know a lot about Dragon's software, but I've seen in mentioned in a few other threads such as this one but I suspect they're using it more for recording speech to text, and then inserting that into Storyline instead of trying to control elements of Storyline with Dragon.

Hi Rach,
Have you tried letting JAWS read the text as is on the slide vs. putting the text in the Alt text section as well?
Hi there, yes we have and it still reads it out twice. I'm using JAWS13 so not sure if it's a bug with that version and Storyline?

thanks seems fine with 15. It is still adding the word Graphic to the end of text for some reason. Any idea why it would do this?
thanks
Rach

Sorry one last question. Do you know if your software is compatible with Dragon naturally speaking software?
thanks
Rach
