Accessibility visibility within objects

Jan 27, 2022

Hello 👋

Are there any rules governing the visibility to accessibility tools of child visual elements pasted within states of other visual elements? For example, if you turn off "Object is visible to accessibility tools" for a button, does an icon pasted within that button inherit that button's accessibility visibility property?

In my situation, I have an instance of a status indicator (circle smart shape with a tick smart shape pasted inside of the circle in the Normal state).

In certain instances the indicator is decorative so I've turned off the "Object is visible to accessibility tools" property. Unfortunately, my screen reader is picking up the tick shape within the circle.

Is there some option that forces child elements to inherit their parent's accessibility visibility property?

Currently I need to go into each indicator, edit the state, and turn off its accessibility visibility property. Tough when there are 10's of them.

Thanks,

Josh.
