Accessing Storyline Simulation via Emailed Links

Oct 09, 2014

I was unable to pull this up from the overall SL forum so am asking if there is any data on whether or not we should not be emailing links out to reviewers to view the SL output file "story.html" to view a simulation?  I am getting very strange lags when demo'ing numeric and text entries and sometimes the previous button on the player locks up and the viewer cannot go backwards in the simulation IF THEY HAVE accessed it via the emailed hyperlink.

When we just click on the "story.html" file in the output folder, the same two published simulations work exactly as we had recorded and updated and there is no problem with PREV or NEXT navigation.

I also heard that Articulate still does not recommend reviewers looking at published projects via a network. Is this still true with SL2 projects?

Hello Donna!

How are you publishing the course before you share it via email?

You could try publishing for CD and sending an email that way if you are not already.

Also, please make sure the computer you are trying to view the links on meet the system requirements.

As far as reviewing published files, we recommend to view your content in its intended environment. If you published for Web or LMS, upload your content to a server for proper viewing. If you're viewing content locally, publish for CD, then double-click the Launch_Story.exe file. Otherwise, local security restrictions in your computer and browser will cause various features to fail.

We also recommenced working locally within the project files.
