“Action Fine Tuning” takes very long time as you go further in your slides

Feb 17, 2015

Dear all,

I have a 100+ slides generated by record screen I need to fine tune one by one.

I notice that the further you go, the longer it takes for Articulate to respond… The first slides show very quickly, but the last ones can 30 seconds!

Is there a reason and a way to prevent that?

Cheers!

Hi Quentin,

I'm not sure I'm clear on what you mean, but is this while trying to make edits to the slide that Storyline is taking longer to respond? Are you able to see how much memory is being taken up by Storyline through the task manager? Have you looked at saving and closing Storyline to free up some of the memory to continue working?

Hi Ashley,

I am talking about the Action Fine Tuning window (see picture below). It is not a lack of memory, I already checked it, I was only using 25% of it and I also already tried: save file, quit SL, reopen file, and even restart computer. I guess this is the way SL works...

I also noticed that exporting a single frame will take a while, it sounds SL need to reload the entire movie even when asked to export one frame.

There is also an issue with triggers on the Hotspots created by SL. The trigger "Play Media" will disappear if you change the trigger "Show Layer"... I will post a .story file for you tomorrow.

Hi Quentin,

What update of Storyline 2 are you using? There was an issue that was fixed in Update 2 in regards to saving frames as documented here. I do also see that our QA team is investigating some behavior with slow action fine tuning, but I don't have any updates to share in regards to that issue currently.

I'll keep an eye out for your other thread as well.
