Add clip of YouTube video
Jul 29, 2021
Hello! I am trying to add a clip of (88 seconds of a 121 second) a YouTube video to my Storyline project. I've read other articles, and keep thinking I have it, but it's not working. I've tried https://www.youtube.com/embed/rDWalFmERhY?end=88 and https://www.youtube.com/embed/rDWalFmERhY?autoplay=1&end=88, and my video still is not automatically playing! Plus, again, I only want to play the first 88 seconds. Am I doing something wrong? Is there another way to do this? I'm pretty sure I read that if I use the embed code, I can't put in the requirement to have it only play a portion. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you in advance!
Edit: I'm inserting as a Web Object...is that incorrect?

Hi Jessica,
Insert it as a video from website, rather than as a web object.
This works:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/DcJFdCmN98s?end=88&autoplay=1"></iframe>
Thank you! That populated the whole video, and is making the user press play :/
Is the video on the first slide? If so, that would explain why the user has to press play; it's a security feature of the browser that media won't autoplay without some user input first.
No, it's on like the 5th slide, and on a layer
Very odd. I am able to use the code above, and it autoplays from a layer, and also ends at 88 seconds. Could you post the slide?
