My base slide is a PowerPoint background with a :43 second video inserted over the lower 2/3 of screen (16:9). I want to have a character and shape fade after 12 seconds. Selecting Apply to All for a fade effect on a different part of the timeline does not work. I can see no way of adding the transition to the character and shape only.

Instead of using a layer transition, could you apply a fade-in animation to the character and shape only?
