I have imported a bunch of PowerPoints into storyline. I have 7 scenes. I'm trying to add a button, which triggers a layer, in every slide, in one scene. But when I go to slide master, the slides are combined by slide type and not by scene. Therefore, adding a button to a slide type, makes the button appear on all those slide types, in every scene and not necessarily on every slide in that scene.
You could create a custom layout(s) that is only applied to slides of this one scene. Or, you could add a button to the Masterslide and then use a variable to show/hide the button based on a variable, e.g. 'Change status of MyButton to Normal When timline starts, if MyVariable=true'.
