Adding an image to a master slide

Had not experience anything like that.

Just tired it a few times on mine using Update 5.

What Update do you have ? What was the image file ? 

It's a very random thing and if it could be reproduced, I'd file a bug report.

After killing the task, I launched Storyline, opened the same .story, added the image, and everything is fine.  I lost about 10 minutes work in the crash so it wasn't too bad.

Keep us posted if you're able to reproduce it.

In the meantime, you'll want to make sure you're using the latest update as Trav mentioned and working with local project files.
