Adding carriage return when pressing enter
Nov 22, 2013
The guide for setting up a text entry interaction says that when a user presses return it automatically submits the interaction....mine adds a new line to the text box which brings up a scroll bar at the size (obviously this looks terrible).
I've tried adding enter as the submit button and that gives me an error message if they get it wrong but the extra line is still added.
Any ideas? Can I set the size of the text box or stop lines being added? I see from this forum I can't set the number of letters that can be added.
Thanks

Hi Gill,
It definitely sounds like your Enter key isn't behaving as it should, described here. Have you tried changing the size of the text box at all?
Some other things to check, just based on this being odd behavior:
I'd also suggest conducting a repair of Storyline, and then test your file again. If you're still having difficulty after that, please let us know and share your .story file here with us. If you're unable to share it here, you're also welcome to send it along here.
Thanks, the file is running on my Articulate folder on the C drive.
I managed to fix it by converting the file from freeform and then converting back to freeform. A new text box then worked OK. A bit odd but its fixed.
Thanks for your feedback.
Thanks for the update Gill, and I'm glad that you were able to fix it.
