Adding external videos to an Articulate course

Jan 13, 2017

I've been asked to add a number of free, external courses from the internet into an Articulate module.  The client wants the courses in our LMS so that completion can be tracked.  I have a couple of questions:

1) What would be the best way to have these videos accessed from the course - a web object or just a link to the URL?

2) Since the course will be accessed from the provider's website, not hosted internally, is there a way for me to ensure people watch the videos in their entirety?  I know that if I had a video file embedded within the course that I can make the video controls unavailable and disable the Next button until the media finishes, but in this case, I don't see a way to do this.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Here's a link to the videos I need to post.

Hi Danielle,

On the video page if you press f12 it will open up the developer tab.

Developer Tab

Then if you press 'ctrl + shift +c' and then click on the video to inspect the element you will see some code highlighted on the right, you can see this in the above screenshot.

Double click on the URL here and paste it into your searchbar and it will download the video for you in mp4 format.

This will allow you to insert the videos into storyline directly.

Hello Danielle! Welcome to the community!

Since you want to restrict navigation to ensure the user watches the video in it's entirety, I would recommend inserting the video as a file and disabling the next button as you mentioned. It looks like Jordan has recommended one way to download the videos in MP4 format. Other users may be able to recommend video downloader tools, as well!
