Adding narration after course is built in Storyline

May 27, 2016

Due to an unfortunate circumstance, we had a vendor turnover an incomplete course that was developed in Storyline.  The missing piece is the narration.  I have a colleague who is willing to record the narration, but he does not have access to Storyline.  What is the best way to have him record the narration so that I can add it to the course?  I am certain there is an easy solution, especially since folks hire voice over talent all the time for projects.

Thank you!

Christie,

I have reviewed those links multiple times and have even recorded audio into several courses.  The course that I need to have narrated was developed by someone else, is rather long, and the voice talent does not have access to Storyline and does not reside nearby.  I am feeling overwhelmed with trying to determine how to record the narration in a way that I can easily add it to the course without creating too much additional work. Do we record one long narration then snip it into pieces for each slide or do we create a file for the narration for each slide.  I figured that the professional developers in this community who hire voice over talent might be able to tell me the simplest and easiest way to finish the project that our consultants left incomplete.

Hi, Lorie -- So sorry to hear you are overwhelmed! And while I will need to defer to your fellow community members to share their ideas and recommendations as professional designers (which I sadly am not!), I can say that in the past, what I have found to work best for my purposes was to take one long wave file, snip it into portions per slide, and then upload the audio to the corresponding slides.

I'd also mention, you might also want to post this question over in our design-related Building Better Courses forum as well, which tends to be an excellent place to reach out for advice on best practices and most efficient processes.
