If the location of the pdf changes or you don't have access to the shared drive that it is on then you cant see that information. Is there a way to keep that pdf with the content?
Under the PLAYER controls for the RESOURCE tab, click on ADD RESOURCE and then be sure to use the FILE option, not the URL. By using the FILE option, when the course is published a copy of the PDF will be permanently stored inside the .STORY file, so you don't need access to the original any longer. IMO this both good and bad, in your case it would be good. I think.

You can use the resource tab in the player. Add the PDF and it will be included in the published course.
