Adding states to hyperlinked text.

Oct 21, 2013

I used text to show layers. I want the user to click all the hyperlinked text before the Next button becomes active. I cannot add a state to the text as the entire text box comes into focus and the state applies to the text box rather than to the bits of text within the box.

Thank you for getting back to me, Ashley!

I include a screenshot of the frame I am working on. I want to have the user click on all three underlined bits of text within the text box before the Next button becomes active. Your presentation shows how to change states but only using text that is the sole text within a text box.

What I have done is to change the text color and underline it to simulate the look of hyperlinked text. Over that, I laid a button with no fill or outline. I then attached all the layer information and Player information to each button. This may not be the best method, but it seems to work.

Hi Rick,

Thanks for sharing your method here too - I didn't realize you were putting them all in one text box. Instead of a button, you could also use a hotspot - that way you don't have to change the fill/outline each time. You could also create each of those words in their own text boxes that you layer over each other to make it look like a seamless sentence.

A lot of options, but you need to use what works best for you!
