I don't have anything selected on the slide and I've closed and opened the Story file, but I can't get the trigger to be created as a slide trigger. I want to change the state of a button based on the state of another object. But the trigger ends up being assigned to the button object and not to the slide.
if you are creating a trigger on one object based on another object then it won't be a slide trigger it will be an object trigger. If you want it as a slide trigger then you could use when timeline reaches time or cue point of the slide...
Good to know. It does work as an object trigger. I thought that if the trigger was associated with the object, it would mean that the user had to click the object - which I can see now is not the case. My trigger just says: Change state of object 1 when object 2 changes state, and Storyline assigns this trigger to object 1, not to the slide. It works!
glad it's working for you. Just to let you know when you reply via email your email signature details are displayed in the forum. You can come in and edit the post to remove if you don't want them displayed.

Make sure that you don't have any object selected on your slide. Any new trigger will then be added as a Slide trigger, rather than an object trigger.
Pefect, thanks! I couldn't figure it out for the life of me

What is it you are trying to achieve?
