I have created a drag and drop free form question. The items I can move into the destination but I don't know how to add information to each item so that when I validate the question in order to determine if the items I drag constitute the correct answer.

Are you asking how to designate the correct drag/drop items?
You can do that via Form View once you have your slide contents:
