Adjusting True/False variables from Slide Master

Jun 01, 2018

Hey all,

I am attempting something I would think should be pretty straightforward. I have a button on a slide master slide that I have triggered to toggle a t/f variable when clicked.

The intent is, on each slide, for a layer to open/hide based on that variable changing. Unfortunately, SL doesn't seem to allow that functionality. Any ideas on how I might be able to work around this?

Thanks!

A common mistake is to set a trigger when variable changes. In the case of the master slide and going to a new slide, the master is reset. But that doesn't mean the variable is changing. The variable only changes on button click.

You probably need a trigger to something like show layer X when timeline of slide starts on condition that variable A = False

Thanks for the reply, Tom. I currently have the button (on the slide master) set to change the t/f variable when clicked. On the individual slides, I have triggers set to show(T)/hide(F) a layer based on that variable. Again, the variable (which is defaulted to FALSE), would change when the button (pulled in from slide master) is clicked. Unfortunately, the variable doesn't change when the slide master button is clicked on individual slides.

I'm wondering if I have to wade into the Javascript pool for this one. If so, that's a whole other can of worms.
