Adobe Flash 11

Nov 28, 2012

Several training sites in our netwrok are automatically using the Adobe updates to take the Flash Player to 11. When this happens, our content stops working. It is only working where we have version 10 and below.

What do you recommend we do about this?

Curious as to if your network is behind a firewall of some kind that may be blocking Flash Player 11.  We currently have an issue with Juniper, who we use for 2 factor phone authentication.  Currently only Flash Player 8 or older is supported.

Also wonder if you're able to get other FP11 content to work (and it's only SL content not working) or are you not able to get any content published for FP11 to work, regardless of tool?

The issue for me is not how the player is or is not getting updated (yes it is behind the firewall), but since Adobe is pushing Flash 11 right now, it seems that Storyline can't work with anything over 10.0. How does Articulate deal with the fact hat some sites have newer players. Or am I reading this worng?

brian - I see you're a Buckeye. Are you here in Columbus, Ohio?

Springfield OH!  12-0, what a season!

We have the same envrionment with FP11 being installed on folks machines (including mine) and Storyline content plays back the same as it did in FP10.

My point about being behind the firewall is that I have seen (and am dealing with it currently) situations where the IT infrastructure is restricting Flash Player content.

Some suggestions for testing to see where the problem lies -

  • Does content published from other tools for FP11 work behind your firewall?
  • Does Storyline content work fine on your computer when you are not behind your network firewall?
  • Have you tried the playback from a non-company computer, again outside your network?

These are just a few, but they might get you started...
