Advice on reporting when learners can choose multiple paths

Sep 05, 2018

Hi all,

Hoping someone can help me. I'll try to keep it simple & easy to understand...

At my place of work, learners work for a number of different brands. Each person is 'signed off' on different brands, so some employees may be signed off on all 16 brands but others may only be 3 or 4, for example.

For regulatory purposes we now need to annually test the competence of each staff member. We have written competency tests for each brand, but i'm at a loss for how to report this easily. The tests are question banks for each brand that pull out 10 questions at random.

I thought about a separate course for each brand, but this would result in a lengthy reporting process for me i think(as i'd have to check annually for each person that they have completed the test for every brand they have?).

Ideally, a way for a user to choose 'I am not signed off on this brand' and be marked as N/A, or 'I am signed off on this brand' and be taken to the quiz.

Sorry if this doesn't make much sense, it's been frazzling my brain a bit! I'm very very new to Storyline (only a month or so) so would appreciate any pointers you have!

Thank you :)

Hi there Heather!

Currently, Storyline lets you track a course either by the number of slides viewed, by course completion trigger, or by a single quiz (result slide). However, it sounds like you have a need to track multiple quizzes at once.

Do you need to know what the learner's quiz score is? If you simply want to mark the course as "complete" if the learner either bypasses the quiz or receives a passing score, you should check out the course completion trigger.

If you do need to track the actual quiz scores, I'll leave it to the community to help you set up that custom quiz. This similar discussion is a good place to start!

Hi Heather,

Here is an idea how it could work:

1) Allow the learner to check the items desired.

2) Reveal only the button related to the items marked.

3) Each button will lead to the related quiz.

4) Create a conditional fnish course button that appear only when all the buttons are clicked.
