AICC Content File Won't Resume Using Articulate Storyline

Nov 25, 2013

Hi,

I created a module with approximately 600 slides using Articulate Storyline and are having issues bookmarking the course.  As I exit the course prior to completion and then resume.  I am taken to slide 1 of the course instead of where I left off.

The file is published to AICC LMS and under the Resume selection, selected "Prompt to resume" with "When running in LMS, ignore Flash cookie" checked off.  I have never had this issue when I was working with Articulate Presenter.

Hi Jasmin and welcome to Heroes!

I'd begin by reviewing this article on why AICC content may not be tracking or resuming as expected. I'd also review the troubleshooting steps in this article, specifically testing it at SCORM Cloud as well (directions on how to test AICC in SCORM Cloud). If you're able to replicate the behavior there please let us know and share your .story file with us. If you're unable to replicate there, you'll want to connect with your LMS team and share those results. Lastly, there are some known issues of tracking AICC content that is hosted in cross domain environments, and you'll want to review the troubleshooting steps outlined here.

By chance, can you use another e-learning standard, like SCORM 2004, 3rd Edition?

On a course that long, there's always the possibility that the resume data from Storyline is too long for the LMS to store as AICC.  If I remember right. the AICC standard only allows something like 4096 characters of resume data.

Thanks!  I believe AICC and SCORM 1.2 have the same limit--4096 characters.

We saw stuff like this with Presenter '09 courses with many, many quizzes and embedded Engage interactions.  Bookmarking never worked right.  We had developers turn off resume for all Engage interactions and turn off resume for all embedded QM quizzes that were not being tracked.  This reduced the amount of resume info being sent to the LMS.  That usually fixed the problem for us--though we never had any courses over 100 slides.

Hello everybody and thank you for you very useful advice.

Again on this topic I have the same problem, AICC Content File Won't Resume Using Articulate Storyline.

I checked all the procedures mentioned about AICC settings, I tried also this procedure, I Thought I found out, but still don't work.
The AICC platform is our client's, so I can't ask them to modify the platform for my content.

Any advice? Any idea  to make it work? Thank you in advance, it is very important for me.
