AICC format is not launching in Cornerstone

Dec 04, 2019

Hello, I am having a problem if a course is published in the AICC format it is not being launched in our LMS - Cornerstone (neither through Chrome and IE). I already approached the support LMS service with this question. They suggested only that there should be a problem with the package itself. However, I tested exactly the same package (the same course) that I published in SCORM 1.2 format and it is working properly. I don't think that publishing the course in a different format will make something wrong to the package itself. The LMS support team keeps saying that Cornerstone supports AICC format, however, my observation shows that there should be some issue with compatibility between Cornerstone and the AICC format. I used trial Articulate Storyline 360 if that matters. Any solutions?

Thanks in advance!

Yulia

Hi Yulia!

The good news is that the trial version of Storyline 360 is the exact same as the purchased version! So there wouldn't be any issues that would stem from there.

The first troubleshooting step I'd recommend is uploading the AICC package to SCORM cloud. This will make it clear if the issue is in the package itself or Cornerstone. We have the directions listed in the support article.

Keep me updated on your findings so we can continue troubleshooting in this discussion!

Hi Lauren! Thank you for your response! My organization does not have a SCORM cloud account yet as we are just testing possibility using online courses. Btw, I assume it is a paid account?

However, our support for LMS tested the AICC package for us in SCORM cloud. They said there was the same message that popped up (as in Cornerstone) saying that this site cannot be reached. They also told me that the problem is with the package. However, I just don't understand what is the problem with the package if, as I said, it is exactly the same course with all of the same configurations and settings I used for the one I published in SCORM 1.2 (which was working properly). The only difference is that it is published with selection not SCORM 1.2 but AICC.

So let me know if you have an idea of what to do next about this issue because I truly don't know what issue with the package is and how to fix it.

Thanks,

Yulia

Hi Yulia,

Thanks for letting us know how the testing went.

  • You republished the course in order to make the adjustment that Lauren shared above, correct?
  • Are you zipping the contents from the publish successful dialog box or manually?

With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.

Hi Leslie, thank you for your prompt response and readiness to help! I appreciate it!

I am sorry, I don't think I understand what you are asking: Lauren suggested to test the course in SCORM cloud but the LMS support team has done it for us. What adjustment do you mean?..

I think I zip manually if I understood your question correctly. (I publish it and it is saved in a folder and then I click zip it in the windows that pops up). I can share the project with you of course publicly, it is just a test course with literally just two slides in it just to see how it works with our LMS with literally two slides on it. I will share both in Articulate and zip file.

Thank you again!

Thanks,

Yulia

Hi Yulia,

I apologize. I didn't mean to cause any confusion.

It does seem like all the steps in the documentation Lauren shared above may not have been followed when testing and we do recommend zipping from the publish successful dialog box as well prior to upload.

I was able to publish your .story file and followed the instructions here for AICC testing in SCORM Cloud.

Here is my published output. I am attaching the .zip file as well and you can have your LMS test it as well if you wish.

I got an error as well when uploading your .zip file to SCORM Cloud. Here's that link.

Let me know how the attached .zip file works for your team.

Hi Leslie, thank you for testing things for me. Yes, I zipped things the same way you show on your screenshot.

I found what was the problem with publishing in AICC format. I will leave this here in case somebody else will have the same issue with AICC format:

For some reason, in Reporting and Tracking Options under Filename (URL): I had some weird address set up by default: http://www.servername.com/story/index_lms.html

So I changed it manually to index_lms.html as how it should be. And I tested it worked. Thanks again for your help!
