Anyone know how to solve this. I place a shape where I want it, then want to align a text box to the middle and center of it but I only want the text box to move, not the underlying shape.
I'm sure it is something obvious, but what am I missing. Half the time i do this, it moves both boxes.
Hey Wendy, thanks for the clue to the solution but if I'm right it isn't quite that simple.
If you have a text box sitting entirely within the boundary of a shape and you go to align them the shape will remain static and only the text box will move.
If the top and the bottom of the text box are within the boundaries of the shape, but the left or right margin extends beyond the boundary of the shape, then you can align middle, but if you try to align center both shapes will move.

Did you try locking the shape using the lock on the timeline?
Walt,
Once i lock the shape, I can't select it.
Hi Ari
I think it's based on the object that is widest is King. See attached Peek

Couldn't have done it without your breadcrumbs Wendy.
