the width of your text boxes containing the 'years' ranges from 58 pixels to 72 pixels. i'd say that is one reason why you are not able to distribute horizontally and get the effect you are after.
Perhaps change them all to the minimum size that will accommodate the text and try to align again.

do you mean alignment on the slide or to display at different times on the SLide?
Perhaps it would be easier for someone to help if you could upload the slide.
The ovals and the years are not aligned for some reason. Even thought I select the alignment to be distributed evenly across.
