Hi, I am building a course for first time homebuyers and would like to have a slide that allows them to calculate their mortgage payment. I know how to use numeric data fields but am not sure if I can do this. Is there any way to input the loan amount, interest rate and term to get the monthly Principal and Interest Payment?
In the past I've used scripts from Hugh Chou to create online calculators. It looks like he hasn't done much on his main site in a while so I have no idea whether you'd encounter any problems, but a few years ago if I remember correctly, some of the "bigger" sites were actually using his code. He has the best variety of calculators that I've found and really thinks outside of the box. I just looked on his blog and it looks like he's created one recently related to one of the new refinance programs.
I'm a little late to this party, but I successfully created a basic home mortgage calculator for a course I'm authoring. It basically involves a long series of variables and although doesn't replicate a true amortization, you can break it down by principal and interest.
Here's a stripped-down version (just one slide) of the home mortgage calculator. The total interest paid and 30-year cost isn't exact, but it's within a highly-acceptable approximation of what it would cost a person to borrower money for a home loan.

Hi Kathleen,
Sine you know how to use numeric data fields, I'm wondering if perhaps this thread will head you in the right direction.
Screenr, published demo, and source file by Jeannette plus a bit of community discussion.
