Android Device Not Showing Courses

Jun 05, 2018

Greetings:
It appears that all my previously designed courses in Storyline 2 are no longer viewable in the Articulate Mobile player on Android devices using the latest Android operating system (the AMP screen goes dark). These courses worked fine on earlier versions of the Android Operation System (V6.0.1) but apparently not on the newer systems. Courses work fine in a browser.

Any suggestions you might have would be very much appreciated.

Sincerely,
Rod Machado

Hi there, Rod.  Thanks for the detailed troubleshooting.  The Articulate Mobile Player is not launching successfully on the Android 8.0 operating system.  We're tracking this issue currently, so I'm going to add this discussion to our report.  I'll update you once we have some solid information about what's happening here.

Are all of your learners going to be using updated Android devices?  If you can republish your courses and uncheck the Articulate Mobile Player option, your content will open in the mobile browser instead.  This would be a good move both to handle the AMP issue, and to use the fixes we've released in the latest version of Storyline 2.

Let me know what you think!

Greetings Chrystal:

Thank you for the immediate reply. I really do appreciate it.

I'm not sure how many users will be using updated Android devices. I suppose
I'll find out soon from my customers. I can certainly republish the courses
so they open in a browser. My issue with that is that some folks would like
to permanently download the course to their iPad device. I'm not sure how
someone would import a course formatted this way into the Articulate Mobile
Player. Is there a way for someone to do that if the course is published as
you suggest?

Once again, thank you for your attention to this issue. It means a lot.
Please write or call if I can offer you more info.

Best,
Rod

Ah, thanks for clarifying that, Rod.

By unchecking the Articulate Mobile Player option, your content will open in the mobile browser and won't be available for offline viewing. It sounds like this may not be a viable option for you.

We will certainly keep you in the loop as we look into this issue. As we get new information, we'll share it here!

Greetings Alyssa and Crystal:
I've received several new (additional) customer comments about my courses not playing i n the Articulate Mobile Player when using a Samsung Tablet or Android Tablets using the latest Android OS. Can you folks give me some idea of whether or not a solution is at hand? If not, I'm going to have to label my courses an incapable of playing on Android devices (and that's a big marker for me). It's been over four months and I would think that a solution is at hand. Please, please, please give me some info.

Sincerely,
Rod Machado

Hi there, Rod!  Thanks for following up.  We're finalizing the release of the latest version of AMP to the app stores, and it includes support for Android 8.0!  As soon as the update is out, I'll let you know.

I see that you're working with our support team, as well.  Thanks for keeping us in the loop, and we can't wait to get you moving forward again!

Greetings Crystal:

That's great but after four months of having to delay giving something solid
to my customers could you at least give me an idea of when this might
happen? A date, a week, a month, something? I can only hold off the crowd so
long.

Sincerely,

Rod Machado

Greetings Crystal:

Any idea when the Android fix might occur? I sure would appreciate even a
hint at this point.

Hi Rod,

Our team is doing some final testing on this, and then it'll be sent to the Android/iOS stores for approval. We're hoping that'll all be ready by November 1,🤞  but we'll let you know here as soon as it's available.

Also, just an FYI it looks like your email signature came through when you replied via email. You can remove that if needed by clicking ‘Edit’ beneath your response. Here’s a quick Peek video if you need help.
